"Bad Art": A workshop to help you develop your creative esteem and finally release the shit you've been hoarding!

with Amenah Arman of Sane In The Membrane

Monday, May 23, 2022
12:00pm - 1:00pm ET / 9:00am - 10:00am PT
Virtual Event (via Zoom)

Are you a CREATIVE who feels extremely uncomfortable releasing your work/art/content? Do you view your content from the lens of "good" or "bad"?   Do you second guess what you create often? Do you feel like an imposter or a phony? Do you feel uncomfortable identifying as a creative? Do you have content you consider to be “bad” but simply can’t get rid of it?  Do you feel like there are many things you coulda, woulda, shoulda created, but somehow can't push yourself to see it through?  Do you often compare what you produce to what others produce?

"Bad Art" is an immersive workshop in which you will challenge yourself to question your perception of what is "good" and what is "bad" content, as well as identify where your creative stuckness may be coming from.

In this workshop, Amenah Arman -Therapist & Founder of Sane In The Membrane - will discuss how to:

  • Identify the ICB (INTERNAL CREATIVE BULLY)

  • Challenge the negative or perfectionistic narrative you have of yourself as a creative

  • Unpack your creative hoard

  • Examine your neglected creative ideas and endeavors

  • Commit to a creative process that works for you

You'll complete this workshop with an in-depth understanding of yourself and your creative process.  You will be able to identify the narrative of what's holding you back creatively and rewrite it if you choose to!

Whether you consider yourself to be a creative or not, if you have an IDEA and have an urge to see it come to life, but you don't know how to - then "Bad Art" is for you!

Amenah Arman (She/Her/Hers)
Founder of Sane In The Membrane

Amenah Arman  is a holistic therapist, community organizer, advocate, and artist. As a nationally certified counselor, she supports creatives, marginalized communities, and those who feel like outsiders in their own life. Taking a nontraditional approach to therapy, she helps her clients cultivate self-acceptance and identify what they need to thrive.

Amenah specializes in narrative exposure therapy and has been sought out for her approach to addressing anxiety in adolescent women of color. She received her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Georgia State University.

When she’s not engaged in clinical work you can find her running, baking bread, and spending time with her 10-year-old daughter. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she regularly seeks out solitude, sunshine, and a smooth cup of French Press coffee.

"MY MISSION IS TO NORMALIZE BEING HUMAN."

You can’t cultivate a relationship with someone if you don’t feel that you know them. I allow clients to view me as a person in their life they can relate to.

Sometimes that means sharing parts of my life that mirror the circumstances you’re facing. This sense of familiarity allows me to exist as a person in your life you can trust and open up to without fear of judgement.
