32. The Four Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making
So last week, we talked about some myths in business and entrepreneurship. And just like we asked you last week, I want to know if some of these things sound like something that you've heard before? We've all fallen into this place. And here we're going into it so that we can have a place to kind of realize it doesn't have to happen this way. So we talked about the four mistakes that you didn't know you were making.
Number one, selling to everybody, anybody will buy.
Number two, the more sku’s, the better. Sku’s are things that you're offering. So if you think about clothing, like how many different types of shirts or pants that you offer. Particularly when you don't know that anybody actually wants or needs it.
Number three, I need to be on all the platforms, ie, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram. Because you think that you need to be visible in all the places but we talked about how that's not necessarily what visibility looks like. And how it can actually undermine your efforts.
And the last one, pretty straightforward, quantity vs quality.
These are things that we hear from our clients and our quarterly programs when we do our 2:1 coaching + consulting in Pause On The Play. So these are things that we have seen and heard, and we are actually servicing our clients to work through these things. How they are showing up in their businesses and their brand. So this is our opportunity to give you this information so you can consider it.

Quantity vs Quality
WHAT’S ONE ACTION YOU CAN TAKE AWAY FROM THE DISCUSSION?
Ask 3 current or prospective clients for feedback on your service offerings.
“…when you're taking imperfect action, and let's be clear, that doesn't mean that that mistake is an undoing or it's a terrible thing. The reality is, you don't know what you don't know. And so, even though you can say, yeah, that might have been a mistake, but now I've learned from it. I've seen how I can do it differently, how I can do it better for me, and I can move forward. So I think I really want to start this by telling people that mistakes are not fatal. “

“Well, and that's where to me market testing is important. So if you're like, Hmm, I wonder how this is going to work. And maybe you say, let me try this on a small amount. people to kind of see what happens. And then I can play it by ear based on the response.”

“But when you speak to that specific person, you now can attract multiple kinds of people that care about that thing. And they don't look like anyone race. They don't look like any one gender, they don't look like any one age, they don't make any one kind of dollar amount in money. And so it also allows you to serve them well. And it allows you to diversify your offerings…”
