What does it mean to amplify your influence?
If everyone has the capacity to influence others, no matter how small their circle might be, how do we consciously amplify our positive impact?
Five members of the Pause on the Play® the Community, share what amplifying their influence means to them, based on their contexts, experiences and opinions.

Recognizing Your Influence Every Day
India Jackson on the Pause on the Play® podcast says that amplifying your influence means two key things. One is recognizing that everyone has influence and the ability to inspire others, to change the way people see the world, and to impact what they think is possible.
Once a person recognizes that for good, bad, or neutral that they have influence, they can pause and decide what they want to amplify from a place of intention.
Erica agrees and adds that the word amplify makes her envision literally standing with a megaphone, “taking something that you feel as though is important, getting their attention and sharing it with them.”
She also knows that amplifying your influence can just as readily happen in one-to-one conversations where you have someone’s attention and focus. “That really is an opportunity to share what matters to you, to share something that there’s value in.”
She continues that your influence is a matter of acknowledging, “I know something, I think about something, I feel about something in a way that I want to share with you…It’s such a huge thing that people don’t even realize they can contribute to that on a daily basis.”
Stacie Lampkin, Jeraud Norman, Shannon Collins, Helena Lucia, and Amy Jacobus, all members of Pause on the Play® the Community, five members shared their thoughts on what amplifying their influence means to them. The Community hosts a diverse range of professionals, entrepreneurs, and change-makers who explore imperfect allyship with a group of people who are all doing it differently, but who are committed to exploring what’s possible.
Different Voices
Stacie Lampkin is an associate professor of pharmacy and board certified patient advocate. She uses her knowledge to educate patients and healthcare professionals about how to be better advocates for pediatric patients.
Stacie says that amplifying your influence has two key aspects for her. The first is making sure that she stays visible so that she can positively spread her message and the second is to make sure she uses her influence to amplify others.
“There are so many people with so many different voices and great information out there with different perspectives and I think we all need to keep amplifying each other.”
She says that in the Community “everyone…wants to help each other grow and amplify each other and provide input and seeing people be successful. And I think that positive energy that shines through it just also influences me to be a constant reminder to make sure that I am supportive of others and have that open conversation.”
Open Conversations
Jeraud Norman is a husband, father of two wonderful boys and the founder of Jeraud Marketing, where his motto is “we turn strangers into customers using paid social media ads.” His team has proudly generated millions in revenue for their clients.
Asked what amplifying your influence means to him, Jeraud said it is “finding more ways to deliver value that will get your message out to more people that need your help.”
He adds that the Community has influenced him in their willingness to have conversations that aren’t being had or facilitated elsewhere and that members are challenged in constructive ways that generate growth.
Influence Across Platforms
Shannon Collins has been aiming to capture joy as resistance for twelve years as the owner of Shannon Collins Photography. They connect clients with affirming vendors and advocate for safer, more diverse, inclusive and accessible standards in the photography industry.
Shannon says that business owners have a lot of ways that they can amplify their influence, but that primarily it means finding ways to “speak out about whatever's important to us and let those around us in our circles know, so that they can maybe make changes as well.”
They continue that Community members have been examples for them of how to produce and repurpose content in meaningful and effective ways in order to amplify their influence.
“There's so many people in our community who have made me excited to wake up in the morning and have conversations about things that might not be had otherwise for me.”
Values-Driven Leadership
Helena Lucia is the founder of SISU Journey. She is a creative, teacher, speaker, coach, mother, partner, and friend. Helena and her programs weave together multiple focus areas, including polyvagal-focused nervous system work, subconscious reprogramming, energetics, and somatic embodiment.
Helena says that amplifying your influence requires getting clear on who you are and what your values are, then collaborating with others who share those values and are aligned with you, “working together in a way where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”
Being part of the Community has influenced how Helena leads with her values and how that shapes who she works with as clients, teammates and collaborators.
Relationships and Community
Amy Jacobus is an online marketing strategist. She is devoted to helping coaches, creatives and consultants increase their impact with smart human marketing online. Her agency, Amy Jacobus Marketing, provides applicable strategies for web, email, social media and content marketing to clients in real time.
Amy says that amplifying your influence means being visible and building genuine relationships and community. “Community is a huge piece of how you build and amplify your own messaging and your own impact in the world, but you have to show up as well.”
She says that getting comfortable with the unfamiliar and with different experiences and viewpoints has been her biggest impact on her of being part of the Community. She adds that she’s grateful for the level of trust, openness and generosity demonstrated by the Community as a whole.
